Costco is my go-to for cheese. The prices are unbeatable compared to regular grocery stores, especially if you love stocking up on high-quality, grass-fed, or specialty cheeses.

  • Dubliner (grass-fed sharp cheddar): About $10/lb at Costco

    • Compare to Sobeys: $23–$26/lb

  • Saputo Sliced Swiss: About $2/100 g at Costco

    • Compare to Sobeys: ~$4.50/100 g

  • Kirkland Cream cheese: $10 for 4 packs ($2.50 per 250g)

    Compare to Sobeys store brand 4$ per 250g

Honey

I used to buy the 3-bears honey bottle pack—perfectly convenient for small spaces, much easier than a giant bucket. (We have bees now so I don't buy anymore.)

Maple Syrup

  • Costco: ~$17 for 1 L

  • Grocery stores (Sobeys): $20+/L

A sweet deal, literally!

Nut Butters

  • Almond Butter: Costco size is a steal. Kirkland’s works out to $1.60/100 g, compared to Sobeys’ store brand at $4.60/100 g

Canned Goods

  • Tomato soup:Campbell soup flat ( 12x284g) 11.69$ compared to Superstore at 15.99$


Beverages

  • Organic coconut water: Kirkland 9x1L pack works out to 0.27$/100ml and the Superstore brand works out to 0.50$/100ml.

  • Hydrogene peroxide: Costco 8X500ml for 9.99$ VS Superstore 500ml /5$. Yes you've read that right.

💡 Tips for Shopping Smart at Costco

  1. Compare unit prices with your regular grocery store—or other discount stores if you’re willing to buy “less fresh.”

  2. Buy in bulk only if you’ll use it before it expires or if you have freezer/storage space.

  3. Check seasonal deals—some items are only a steal at certain times.
